A Note from the Creator
My place is to create the game world, the objects and the systems which empower
the players to enjoy their characters. I make the world (areas), the items,
the monsters and all the "laws of nature and magic". The DM's create storylines;
whether they be of their own design, or they be those taken and nurtured from players.
We all work to keep things running as smoothly as possible.
What Engliton is, and pretty much always has been, is a venue, a place that empowers
all the players to play the characters that they want to play within a standard,
pretty much generic, fantasy setting (notice that never once has Engliton been called
a Forgotten Realm server.. there are many diety systems involved here).
Many of the additions to the server have stemmed from player ideas, emails and suggestions.
Take, for example, the new Tradeskills....Farming, Fishing, Cooking, etc. Those stem from
numerous emails from players requesting an alternate to playing characters that have to
fight to get anywhere, so that characters could have an alternate path. With that,
we have character such as Mother Merry who does very little else save for cooking.
The new Guild System was created specifically so that players had a way that they could
band together in unity in an official means and work together.
Generally, Engliton has been developing into something that I'd really like to see....
a place which offers to the player the system, the resources to play the character that
they want to play; be that an adventurer, someone that does a tradeskill, someone that
does ritual magic, etc. How these systems and resources are truly up to you, the player.
I don't see any player's way of playing wrong UNLESS it disrupts the enjoyment of others,
or it gives them an unfair advantage over the other players. The DMs will be told that
they can Boot with Avengeance ANY character that is interrupting one of their events.
So yes, if you come across a Red Wizard of Thay in deep debate with a group of players,
and you decide to throw an egg, or say something OOC....expect to get booted.
If some of the people you interact with during your time playing do not fit your play style,
excuse yourself and leave to find someone that does fit your style of play.
There is no rule that says you must RP with everyone that says Hi to you.
And there is nothing wrong with finding those people you enjoy playing with.
If "Bobbo the Town Idiot" is telling a tale of how he slew 25 rabid ducks with one tomato and
then starts throwing eggs...walk away. If they follow you and continue their antics, ask them
to stop. If they continue, contact a DM or Email me, for that is harrassment and will be dealt
with. On the flip side, if you come across players discussing history and information learned
of the latest storyline and you are bored to tears because of it, you can walk away also.
YOU choose how you act and how you interact. If what is going on around you does not suit you,
there is more to find elsewhere. I wouldn't expect a sports fan to sit through a game with two
teams they have abolutely no interest in.
The server is what the players make of it. Neither I nor the DMs can force players to RP
within a set guideline. We follow the rules of the server and try to maintain a good atmosphere.
In closing, do not let the thoughts of other, both In Game or Out Of Game, bother you.
What matters is that you are having fun without impeding the fun of others.
